Off-Grounds Resources

U.Va. Clubs
Long a social outlet for far-flung Wahoos (and those closer to Grounds), U.Va. Clubs have taken on a greater public-service character in recent years. The annual "Cavaliers Care" day of service, usually held on or near Thomas Jefferson’s birthday, is a major activity, and many clubs have gone well beyond that; the U.Va. Club of Richmond, for instance, is funding and building a Habitat for Humanity house. Clubs are also active in supporting scholarships and promoting the University among prospective students—and they still throw great parties. Information: www.uvaclubs.virginia.edu

Alumni Interest Groups
Network with those whom you share interests and backgrounds. The Alumni Association supports a wide variety of special-interest alumni groups—for a full listing, visit www.alumni.virginia.edu/reunions/interestgroups.asp.

U.Va. Travel
The University’s trio of travel programs stresses enlightenment as well as entertainment. Cavalier Travels offers destination-driven outings, led by U.Va. faculty experts, for alumni, parents and friends. The Travel & Learn seminars are topic-driven programs, led by U.Va. faculty and other experts, for the U.Va. community and the general public. In Virginia Voyages, travelers can join University President John T. Casteen III as he journeys to some of the more interesting corners of the globe. Information: www.virginia.edu/travel

Educational Programs
In the Engaging the Mind series, U.Va. faculty members offer free public lectures throughout Virginia on topics of general interest. Information: www.virginia.edu/engagingthemind (where podcasts of past lectures are also available). Similarly, the Faculty Senate Speakers Bureau (www.virginia.edu/facultysenate/speakers) can help you locate just the right professor for your group’s interests.
